#Breakthebias
At Boots, empowering women has always been a key mission. We’re committed to fostering equality, allyship and shaping more opportunities.
This International Women’s Day, we asked inspiring women what advice they’d give to their younger selves to help break down biases in the workplace by getting the conversation started
Boots Wellness Warrior, Sylvia Mac, body equality Activist and Child burns survivor, advised: “Make sure you protect yourself and be careful any type disadvantage or exclusion. And remember to speak up, it’s so important to speak up.”
Over 100 years ago, Florence Boots was appointed as Boots’ first female director and she was a huge champion of women, creating new jobs for women and she made it her personal mission to create more opportunities for women.
Today, Boots is just as committed to fostering women's equality and shaping opportunities for them, including creating schemes such as the Women of WBA-UK business resource group which now with over 500 members, helps women thrive in the workplace
To mark International Women’s Day, Boots has organised a whole week of events for team members with eight events to help #BreakTheBias in our workplaces and communities, celebrate women’s achievements, and take action for equality.
