Across the UK, young people’s mental health is being challenged like never before with the aftermath of Coronavirus adding to existing pressures. With your support, we can be on the ground helping the children who need us this year more than ever.

This year marks 17 fantastic years in partnership with BBC Children in Need, but did you know that back in 2019, the money we raised for BBC Children in Need went on to fund projects that help champion mental wellbeing and build confidence and resilience?

Last year alone, the money we raised together helped fund 45 mental wellbeing projects that impacted up to 9,000 children – just like Clara.

When Clara found out that her mum had depression, she struggled to understand what it meant and how it made her feel. Luckily, Oasis Youth Centre was there for her to provide the support she needed.

With the help of funding from BBC Children in Need, Oasis provide a year-round programme of trips and activities to connect young people in the local area and support them with their mental wellness. Through their inclusive wellbeing activities and volunteering opportunities, Clara was able to learn more about mental health and talk openly about her feelings. This helped her better understand what both she and her mum were feeling, and how she could be there for her. Now aged seventeen, Clara is still supported by Oasis, and the incredibly important work they’re doing has become even more crucial during lockdown.

Discover how BBC Children in Need is making a difference in your local area today.
