This week, Elizabeth Fagan received an honorary degree from Nottingham Trent University.

Boots has been at the heart of Nottingham’s community for almost 170 years, supporting the city and its people to live healthier, happier lives through the gifts of green land, creating better working practices, and by supporting important local charitable causes.

Elizabeth was presented with a Doctor of Science for the longstanding community relationship Boots has with Nottingham including ongoing charity partnerships such as the Nottingham WE Schools programme and the development of the Boots Beeston site, as part of the Nottingham Enterprise Zone.

Commenting after receiving her honorary degree Elizabeth said “I am honoured and personally humbled by this recognition. But at the same time, receiving it on behalf of Boots is a great reflection of the relationship between Boots, the City of Nottingham and the Education sector. Education has always been important to me, which is why I originally trained as a teacher some 30 years ago. I could never have imagined back when I graduated from university that I would one day end up being the Managing Director of Boots. As I move into my new role as non-executive Chairman of Boots in September, I will continue to commit my energies to the relationship Boots has with Nottingham and with the development of our Beeston site in the city.”

In addition to Elizabeth, Nottingham Trent University also awarded an additional 10 inspirational figures with honorary degrees, including a former Paralympic swimmer and international ice hockey player.

Professor Edward Peck, Vice-Chancellor of Nottingham Trent University (NTU) said “I am delighted that people of such distinction have accepted Honorary Degrees from NTU this summer and sharing their valuable insights on their lives and careers with students”.
