  • Boots UK donates over half a million products to local NHS Trusts, hospitals, care homes and community groups
  • Donation of over 100,000 toiletries set aside for NHS hospital staff and 5,000 patient recuperation packs

Boots UK today announces plans to further support the critical care the NHS is providing, by delivering donations of essential toiletries for NHS staff working on the frontline and also patient recuperation packs. Donating in excess of half a million products, Boots is working closely with charities, care homes and local NHS Trusts on a daily basis to ensure product is getting to those that need them the most.

The 5,000 recuperation packs will provide patients who have recently come off ventilators at NHS Nightingale hospitals across the UK with toiletries, at a time when they don’t have access to their own. The ready-made patient packs include No7 face creams, Botanics face wipes and Soap & Glory hand creams as well as toothbrushes, toothpastes, wipes and deodorants from suppliers including Simple, Sensodyne, Humble and Soft & Gentle.

Donations to the incredibly hardworking NHS staff will allow them to have easy access to hygiene essentials and vital wash stations between their busy shifts.

Seb James, Managing Director of Boots UK commented, “We want to offer further help at this time of national need and support the efforts of our frontline workers and communities up and down the country. It is our hope that providing essential toiletries to those that need them the most will help them feel just a little bit better.

Boots will continue to be a true friend and partner to the NHS and we are so grateful to the people on the frontline every single day, working tirelessly and selflessly to help others.”

Justine Davy, Head of Fundraising at University Hospitals Birmingham Charity added, “On behalf of everyone at University Hospitals Birmingham I would like to thank Boots for its incredibly generous donation of toiletries. Our NHS superheroes are working hard at this difficult time, and this donation of toiletries will help them to stay refreshed during their shifts caring for our patients across the Trust.”

This is just one part of Boots UK’s ongoing support to the NHS.  As one of the organisation’s key partners, Boots Pharmacists are also now part of the NHS 111 triage service, working together with other healthcare professionals to manage minor ailments and offer pharmacy expertise. This additional support follows the ongoing set-up of Boots COVID-19 drive-through testing sites for NHS workers. Almost 200 Boots colleagues are helping to carry out tests at 10 centres across the UK, with another 10 opening in the coming weeks.

Together with the NHS, Boots is also continuing to help vulnerable patients at this time by delivering their medicines free of charge, supported by the recruitment of 500 new delivery drivers.
