Boots to turn 86,000* plastic bottles per year into its own brand, eco-friendly tights

Boots UK becomes one of the first retailers to bring tights made from plastic bottles to the high street. A fantastic example of innovative green technology, they are made from plastic bottles and are just as comfortable and durable as regular nylon tights.

Available to buy online now at boots.com and in select stores from the 16 March, the NEW black opaque tights will help customers find those everyday fashion buys that are a little kinder to the planet.

To make each pair of high quality and sustainable tights, around four plastic bottles are shredded into micro-particles, melted down and spun into yarn. The yarn is then knitted to produce comfortable and durable tights that stand the test of time and use no nylon.

This is just another step Boots is taking to become more environmentally friendly. Over the last year Boots has switched from plastic to paper bags, introduced refillable water stations in some stores and now stocks over 150 sustainable products.

The eco-friendly tights will be available in four different sizes (S,M,L,XL) in 80 denier and are priced at £8.50.
