During September Boots celebrated 21 years since the launch of the Boots Advantage Card, and 21 years of rewarding customers and colleagues for their loyalty.

Wanting our loyal customers to join in the celebrations, we launched a ‘Points Millionaire’ competition where one lucky customer would win 1 million Boots Advantage Card Points – equivalent to £10,000 to spend on health and beauty in Boots stores!
There were over 600,000 entries to the competition where customers simply had to download or open the Boots app and load the competition onto their phone.

Jemma Hammond from Kent was revealed as our lucky winner and was presented with a special edition Advantage Card and 1 million points at her local Boots store in Bluewater Shopping Centre, Dartford.

Jemma said: “When I saw the competition online to win 1 million Boots Advantage Card Points, I couldn’t not enter – it was such an amazing prize. You always enter competitions and think “I’m never going to win” so when I got the call to say I’d actually won, I started doubting myself thinking it might have been someone winding me up!

“I shop in Boots quite often so I’ve been really excited and I’ve already planned what I’ll use the points for. I want to take my family and friends on a shopping spree to treat them and, with Christmas just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to start thinking about what I can buy.”

The scheme, which was one of the first loyalty programmes to launch in the UK, began as a way for customers to collect four points for every £1 each time they shopped, which could be spent as a reward in store. This has evolved over the years to help improve the shopping experience for customers, now offering personalised promotions and offers, alongside the classic points promotion.

Over the last 21 years the Boots Advantage Card has grown to become one of the largest in the UK with over 14.6 million active users. Individual advantage cards are now able to be linked to a downloadable app that provides members with personalised offers, in-store appointment bookings and prescription management services.
