Wash your hand hygiene worries away

Thursday 15th October marks Global Handwashing Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing as an effective way to help prevent the spread of diseases.

Since the nation started singing ‘Happy Birthday’ twice while washing their hands to help aid effective handwashing at the start of the pandemic, Boots has seen an increase in sales of hand wash and hand sanitiser as we became more aware of the importance of hand hygiene than ever before.

With an increase in demand for hand hygiene products whilst on the go and to mark Global Handwashing Day, selected hand hygiene products are currently on Buy One Get One Free (cheapest product free) in Boots stores and online at boots.com. Boots also has a selection of nourishing hand creams included in a 3 for 2 skincare offer, for those experiencing dryness from increased hand washing and in need of a boost of moisture.

Boots Chief Pharmacist, Marc Donovan advises: “Wash your hands well, for at least 20 seconds, with soap and water. Boots has a handy infographic that includes all the steps for a thorough hand wash. If you are out and about and do not have access to clean water and soap, clean your hands with hand sanitiser remembering to use the same routine – many people don’t make the link of rubbing hand sanitiser in properly for 20 seconds like you do when washing your hands!”
