Vitamin sales at Boots UK surge as customers turn to supplements to support their wellbeing during lockdown

  • Customer demand for vitamins is at a five-year high[1], with 50 packs of vitamins per minute sold at Boots
  •  Boots launches an online quiz to help customers find the right vitamins for them and their lifestyle
  • To help customers stock up on the right vitamins and supplements, Boots is currently offering 3for2 on select products across the range

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Boots UK has seen a boom in vitamin sales, with customer demand rising by 133% - marking the strongest period of vitamin sales in five years.

Boots expects vitamins to continue to fly off the shelves as we ease out of lockdown, as customers recognise that some vitamins can help support the immune system as well as potentially reducing the chances of falling ill.

Unsurprisingly with restrictions leading to more time spent indoors, it was vitamin D – the ‘sunshine vitamin’ – that was one of the top selling supplements, with sales rising by up to 117% since the first lockdown – and sales on boots.com up by a staggering 809%.

Boots sells over 150 vitamin products, so to help customers navigate the range, it has launched a NEW online quiz  (https://vitamins.boots.com) to show customers what nutrients and vitamins are best suited to them. Customers answer a series of questions about their life and preferences in order to receive a tailored prescription of the vitamins they should consider.

Boots Pharmacist, Janky Raja says: “With such a broad range of vitamins and supplements, I am often asked for advice and guidance on which ones customers should be taking. Most vitamins should be suited to individual needs, healthcare concerns or lifestyle factors. If customers are unsure, we have pharmacists and trained healthcare teams on hand in our stores to provide advice targeted to your needs.”

Select vitamins are currently 3 for 2 in Boots stores and online at boots.com, so there’s no better time to take the Boots Vitamin Quiz and stock up on the supplements perfect for you.
