Macmillan Moments: Meet Andy

07 July 2022
News CSR

This year, Boots is supporting the incredible work carried out by Macmillan Cancer Support by funding a nurse for one year. As part of the Macmillan Moments campaign, Boots is this week spotlighting Andy who was inspired to become a Macmillan nurse after losing his father to cancer in 2003.

Find the words

Like Andy’s father, 1 in 150 men are diagnosed with cancer every year, and while they represent 51% of cancer cases, only 31% of the calls to the Macmillan Support Line come from men.

To encourage more men to talk about the signs, symptoms and impacts of cancer and seek the support they need, Macmillan have launched a new campaign this month to help people ‘Find the Words’ to talk about cancer to friends, family or Macmillan, whether that’s in the online community, via Web Chat or calling the Support Line.
