Picture the scene… the sun is shining, your favourite band is just about to come on stage and good vibes are all around! Boots UK is here so you can party seamlessly through the festival season from start to finish, knowing you’re looking and feeling gorgeous. Whether that’s helping you perfect your pout for endless festival selfies, or getting you prepared for when the rain inevitably starts and you need to fight the frizz!

First, there are some ‘beauty-bum-bag-essentials’ that you shouldn’t go without.

Waterproof wonders:

Bring the NYX Proof it! Waterproof Mascara Top Coat, (£5.50) to layer over your favourite mascara for the sweat, rain, and even tears over the excitement of seeing all your favourite bands! The No7 Amazing Eyes Trio, (£12) are waterproof eye pencils in black, brown and green. They glide on quickly and easily, saving you from messing around in a hot tent! They’re also guaranteed for long lasting wear.

Metal mani’s:

Step aside pastels and brights, metallic nails are the must have this season! Choose a nail colour that goes with all your planned outfits and will last you throughout the festival, try Sensationail in Rose Gold Glitter (£15.00)and keep the party going all day long.

Glow bricks:

No7 Advisor Samantha Greeves says: ‘Festival makeup is all about faking luminous, glowing skin (even if you’re running on a few hours’ sleep). Just dusting your cheeks with a bit of shimmer can really lift your complexion and it looks amazing when the sun hits your face. Compact palettes are perfect for saving on space especially as you can use the colour on your eyes as well as your cheeks.’

For a soft glow, use the Soap & Glory Wonderbronze Shimmer Brick, (£11.00) on your cheeks or eyes. The shimmer brick delivers instant chic and will keep you looking radiant from when you leave the tent to when you clamber back in.

Tools for the perfect pout:

Samantha Greeves explains: ‘We know taking selfies with your friends is part of the whole experience. Getting the perfect pout is key to making sure your favourite selfie pose is on point. Duration is the key to make sure you’re not needing constant top-me-ups, so make sure you choose a lipstick that is specially formulated to be ultra-long lasting and behave itself all day.”

There is usually around a 13-hour window from the first band on at noon to the last act on the main stage at night. Whilst you’re dancing the day away, try a slick of SEVENTEENs Stay Pout Lipstick in Date Night (£4.49) This long lasting, creamy lipstick stays put all day long and contains a blend of moisturising waxes and shea butter to help prevent lips from drying out. It’s ideal for an intense pop of picture perfect lip colour.

Festivals are the perfect time to get creative and try out new looks. Rainbow freckles are already all over Instagram and are set to be a key trend this festival season. You can a colourful liquid eye liner such as the No7 Stay Perfect Liquid Eye Liner, (£7.50) in Mermaid, Sky High or Bohemian with the No7 Retractable Lip Brush, (£8). Just very lightly dab the colour where freckles might appear on the face so the colour is scattered across the cheekbones and nose. Be bold and experiment with different colours at once for an amazing technicoloured look!

Ever fancied trying out different hair colours? Try the BLEACH Hair Crayon in The Big Pink, (£4). Just brush the hair crayon down the pieces of hair you want to colour and build up to however bold you’re willing to go. With loads of other colours in the range from Blullini and Violet Skies, you can experiment with different colour hair each day of the festival.

Being confident with colour doesn’t have to just apply to your hair, why not try out this season’s colour clash trend with make-up? Use a bold colour shade from the Sleek i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette in Original (£8.99) on your eyes, using foundation as a base on your eyelids to help eyeshadow last all day, and team with a clashing bright lip. To avoid clown-like lips try the Sleek Makeup Lip VIP Lipstick in Flaunt It (£5.49)and lightly press the lipstick on with your finger instead of applying straight from the bullet.

Celebrity Hair Stylist, Mark Hill, gives us the inside scoop on his top festival hair trends this year: Waves are the festival classic, bang on trend and suit all hair types from mid to longer lengths. The night before you head to the festival, shampoo as normal and waft off until completely dry; it’s all about the texture for this look. Once dry, take a large section of hair, spray with Mark Hill Styling Heat Protection Spray (£6.49) and spiral  around a large barrelled wand.  Hold for a few seconds and then release. Do this through the rest of your hair, spray with Mark Hill MiracOILous Nourishing Hairspray (£6.99) and then go to bed. The next morning spray a section of hair with hairspray and rub gently between your palms. This separates the waves, loosens them and adds that all important texture, giving your hair a great hold to last all day- and even into the next”.

If on day two, your festival hair is looking a bit tired, pull out your Boots Dry Shampoo Original, (£2.29) Boots Blending Hair Grips, (£1.49) and the Boots Metallic Pony Tailer, (£3.85) and arrange your hair into a chic ponytail.

When all else fails and the frizz can’t be tamed with a clever hair style, use the Lee Stafford ARGANOIL from Morroco Anti Frizz Serum Spray, (£9.99). Apply to unruly ends and it will leave your hair glossy and smooth with a long lasting shine.

Not everything about festivals is glamorous so don’t forget to bring along these handy essentials to prepare for the dirt.
