  • Boots UK launches an initiative that helps customers find beauty products with sustainability credentials
  • Customers are also invited to participate in the Recycle at Boots scheme
  • The UK’s leading health and beauty retailer reveals how it plans to reduce its own ‘Bootprint’

Boots UK has launched a new sustainability initiative called ‘Be More’, which aims to help its customers to select products with one or more of the following attributes – plastic-free, recycled, re-usable, vegan and cruelty free.

Boots unveiled its first ‘Be More’ edits ahead of World Environment Day this Saturday, 5th June. The edits, which feature 400 products, can be found at www.boots.com/sustainable-living as a permanent new feature of the retailer’s online store, with more products to be added on an ongoing basis. Customers can filter their product searches by each ‘Be More’ edit. Boots plans to continue to evolve and expand these edits to reflect further ways products and brands are working to be more sustainable.

Top picks of the first ‘Be More’ edits include:

Be More… Plastic-free

Meets our zero plastic packaging criteria for primary and secondary packaging. Packaging is recyclable.

Brushd. Lemon Mouthwash Tablets £5.50

Be More... Recycled

Florena Fermented Skincare Cleansing Tonic 200ml £14.99

Lucy Reynolds, Director of Communications, CSR and Sustainability at Boots UK, said: “We always want to help our customers make informed choices and our ‘Be More’ edits will help people to choose the products that are right for them as well as the planet. At Boots, we believe that healthy communities need a healthy planet; we’re working hard to offer more sustainable product choices, reduce the environment impact of our operations and introduce new shopping initiatives such as our customer recycling scheme.”

Boots is also supporting customers and team members become agents of change by recognising that many of the products it sells are not yet recyclable via kerbside solutions. That is why last year, Boots became the first retailer to launch a recycling scheme using new Scan2Recycle technology. Recycle at Boots, offered in partnership with No7 Beauty Company, allows customers to bring even the most difficult empties into 50 Boots stores across the UK. Customers can bring their empty products to any Boots in store recycle bins and receive 250 Boots Advantage Card points when they spend £10 or more.*

The UK’s leading health and beauty retailer is also focusing on reducing its own impact on the environment – or ‘Bootprint’. Boots UK has committed to the following:

  • UK plastics pact: By 2025, 100 percent of Boots owned packaging will be reusable/recyclable or compostable
  • Food waste reduction roadmap: By 2030, Boots will have reduced food waste by 50 percent

Boots will continue to develop its suitability programme in the coming months and years.
